 Hop On Pop

In August of 2002, Todd Leiter-Weintraub sent a copy of his demo collection (Lo-Fi Is Better Than No Fi At All) to Spade Kitty Records owner Matt Walters, who was intrigued enough to offer to release a record for him, provided he re-recorded the songs in a proper studio.

Wasting no time, Todd called upon his old friends (and former bandmates in Sub Rosa) Dave Kling and Tim Ferguson to back him on this new project, which he dubbed Hop On Pop. After a little searching, Todd wound up right back at the doorstep of Spade Kitty Records, recruiting his benefactor Matt Walters to play keyboards and round out the lineup.

A year of sporadic rehearsals and gigs followed before the band entered the studio in September of 2003 to begin recording their debut record. The music is a tribute to the entire group's love of pop music of the rock era, in all its forms - from the English music hall-influenced jangle of The Kinks and Syd Barrett to Nick Lowe's pub rock to the fury of Husker Du and current-day heroes Super Furry Animals.

First and foremost, the band is a good time for all four guys. All love the music and, more importantly, they love each other. And that is what it is all about.
