Maureen Anderson's Shapeshifter is a concept which has evolved over time.
Maureen initially started out as a solo performance poet in South Africa.
Shapeshifter has performed with the area's most renowned musicians, as well
as such luminaries as Arthur Brown(the God of Hellfire) and Daevid Allen of
Gong.

Among Shapeshifter’s achievements is playing Glastonbury festival 1997, they were
invited to play 1998 but declined as there was a paid for trip to the USA.

A Shapeshifter gig is more than just music; it's a self-contained
theatrical experience; an organic entity that captivates the audience as
in addition to the band, there's also a light show and two dancers, one of
whom literally shapeshifts to each song, for instance becoming a giant
dancing fish.

I have looked for it for years and it is almost on my doorstep! Wishing you peace and love.... Humber Stone It is the only standing stone in Leicestershire to appear marked on the maps. It has been known by several names including Hoston, Holy Stone, Holstone or Hell Stone. It was extensively excavated in 1878. There is a story of a wealthy landowner who broke a chunk off the Stone in the 18th century to try to destroy it so that the land could be used. Just six years later (in 1810), he died penniless and destitute in the parish workhouse! Many tales relate to the faery-folk who are said to inhabit the Stone. They should on no account be upset, or misfortune in one form or another will befall the miscreant. Other legends attached to the Stone include; if you touch, or worse, break pieces off the Stone your ears will turn to stone and if you fall asleep near or on the Stone you will be captured by the faeries. {MESSAGE_MORE_POPUP}

The Beltane Fire Festival, which takes place every year on Calton Hill as April turns to May, lit the sacred fires of summer in front of 11,000 revellers last night. We have finally had a chance to go out on the motorbike and I am missing Dave badly. Today is the day to celebrate the patron saint of England. Today, I also just caught some naughty boys trying to hide drugs in my garden. Hopefully they won't come back. Hope your day is less eventful and more peaceful. You see, that's where the 'Unlucky, Friday the 13th' comes from, it is said that the Knights were cursed men, and 700 years ago, they were massacred. The Vatican Church is releasing a 700 year old document that is said to clear the Knights of their accused crimes against Jesus, and the church. The Knights, who were a covert group of heroic monks back in the middle ages, around 1001. In a crusade to wipe out the Templars, they were captured and burned to death in the year 1314, which literally wiped out the Templars from existence. Do you know how to make snow angels, just lie on your back in fairly deep snow and draw your arms up so that they are aligned with your ears, then get up carefully... Inspiration to create new music that is more experimental, having the first session on Monday!!! What else to do when your band starts playing different tunes, cannot make it to the dark side of the moon. Though that has become a song going through my head . Wanted to upload an image of the coelacanth the inspiration of Fishhhhh. Had how many more versions of Fish will arise who can tell. Just rolled back in from sunny South Africa last night, could not get access to a computer. Played some flute, spread the music around even arranged to send some to a head shop in Amsterdam. What a trip. New year's eve was very strange, after dark you lock up and huddle away, that was just the start, every night lock up and huddle away. What has happened to my beloved country? On a brighter note I have been given a brilliant foot controlled effects unit, going to be great fun on the stage. Been practising the guitar and boy do my fingers hurt. Happy Solstice, may you celebrate this day in peace and love and harmony. The Pagan celebration of Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. Ancient people were hunters and spent most of their time outdoors. The seasons and weather played a very important part in their lives. Because of this many ancient people had a great reverence for, and even worshipped the sun. The Norsemen of Northern Europe saw the sun as a wheel that changed the seasons. It was from the word for this wheel, houl, that the word yule is thought to have come. At mid-winter the Norsemen lit bonfires, told stories and drank sweet ale. The ancient Romans also held a festival to celebrate the rebirth of the year. Saturnalia ran for seven days from the 17th of December. It was a time when the ordinary rules were turned upside down. Men dressed as women and masters dressed as servants. The festival also involved decorating houses with greenery, lighting candles, holding processions and giving presents. The Winter Solstice falls on the shortest day of the year (21st December) and was celebrated in Britain long before the arrival of Christianity. The Druids (Celtic priests) would cut the mistletoe that grew on the oak tree and give it as a blessing. Oaks were seen as sacred and the winter fruit of the mistletoe was a symbol of life in the dark winter months. It was also the Druids who began the tradition of the yule log. The Celts thought that the sun stood still for twelve days in the middle of winter and during this time a log was lit to conquer the darkness, banish evil spirits and bring luck for the coming year. Last night we went to the Buxton Opera House and saw Fish who used to play with Marillion do his stuff. It was pretty amazing, the man is a show stopper, was fun and a good laugh to call out fisssssssssssssh from the audience for a change. My last semi-acoustic I had, my ex husband he sold it and bought me some poor quality Spanish guitar. He even sold all my records, good old vinyl, never replaced them {MESSAGE_MORE_POPUP}

Do you know how they catch monkeys? They hollow out a hole in a tree that is big enough for a monkey's hand to fit in, then they put pumpkin seeds in the hold. The monkey sticks it's hand in and grasps the seeds, because it's hand is in the shape of a fist, the hole is too small, the monkey does not think to drop the seeds and so gets caught. Well, coming from South Africa and tripping around Nahoon Beach, East London, the monkeys used to come and steal our things, like one random shoe and then throw it to each other, hard to retrieve. Then of course there were the baboons whose defense against harm was to turn around and to show their perceived attacker their big blue bums. I wonder if {MESSAGE_MORE_POPUP}

This is because the gig we had booked for the 31st October is not going to happen as the venue has closed down. Managed to get us a gig on the 29th October at the Shed and should not be too bad. Will be doing it with Kevin Hewick's band, No Junk Promise and Agonal Trace. Both bands are a privilege to play with.
