THEKOKOON is an art and film influenced new wave - indie duo that started their musical partnership early 2000 in Berlin. THEKOKOON are the former ballet dancer Danyx Simone: vocals, bass, keys and multi instrumentalist and sound engineer/producer Dirk Henry (his credits include mixing work for "we are scientists"(crap attack 06) and engineers' and musicians' work for german multi platinum selling act: "Wir sind Helden" among many other great but less "successful" bands).
Shannon Coulter of Magnatune (USA) describes the music on "Berlin":
"Ok, Berlin is just so damn sexy. Angular, androgynous, poutyit's a Bowie/Siouxsie-influenced urchin of an album that'll have you strutting around the house like a Milanese model on a Fashion Week catwalk. Highlights include the smouldering opener "Impressions," the world's only New Wave drinking song "We Didn't Go," the angrily suffering "Presentation"and the deliciously disaffected "Tap At Floes." Skeptics take note: this is not the trend-hopping New Wave of the last few years; this is the direct descendant of New Wave...its legitimate heir."
The music is available as download at all leading digital retailers like iTunes, Napster etc. and on CD at Amazon.
The Kokoon's new longplayer "Berlin" get's good airplay on more than 100 stations accross the USA,Canada and UK.
This second longplayer of THEKOKOON is an ironic musical diary about city life style including all ups and downs, hopes and fears, being pushed or exhausted - sometimes both at the same time - and also being sick of it all. But there's always a smile remaining and the certainty that life doesn't care how you feel - it just goes on...
You can also listen to the new EP "We didn't go" on myspace.com/thekokoon.
that's the news so far.. keep in touch ! Cheers, The Kokoon
